Lions and Tigers and Bears- OH MY!
Room 204 enjoyed doing Animal Research with Mr. D'Aloia! Using an outline we were able to find interesting facts about animals like giraffes, cheetahs, pandas and even an okapi! Now that our research is complete, we typed our reports in Tech and added some exciting pictures! For the grand finale, we will visit the Bronx Zoo to observe the animals in their habitats! OH MY!

Keep a Song in your Heart!

What could be better than learning about the life of musical genius Yo-Yo Ma? A private concert by Mrs. Landrigan, CHS Orchestra Teacher and Ms. Bass, Strings Teacher at CMS! Our class enjoyed a performance on the cello and violin! Did you know that Yo-Yo Ma calls one of his cellos "SWEETIE PIE" and he almost lost another cello in the back of a taxicab worth 2.5 million dollars?! YIKES! We also spent time listening to music from different genres! Room 204 has some movers and shakers, especially when we listened to disco! Move your feet and boogie to the beat!

Watch out VanGogh! There's a New Artist in Town! (actually 21!)

After enjoying the book "Through Artist's Eyes" our class learned how artists share their views and visions with the world! We learned that they create an image using their perspective and can capture the beauty all around us! We decided to check out some amazing art books (with the help of Mr. D'Aloia) and see for ourselves. After selecting some of our favorite works we created pictures using the artist's style. You should see the bright, blooming flowers that would make Georgia O'Keefe proud! We created portraits, landscapes, shells and made our very own art museum in Room 204! There is an artist in everyone! Paint on!

Star Light, Star Bright! Have you seen the stars tonight?

As part of our unit on Astronomy, we have kept a watchful eye on the night sky! Each night we completed a "Sky Journal" with detailed pictures and a brief description of what we saw. We were able to see changes in the sky and even how different the moon looked each night. As budding astronomers, we will begin some "planet research" to find out more about our Solar System! Keep you posted!

ORK! Watch out for parading penguins!

Our class enjoyed the story Mr. Popper's Penguins so much we decided to visit a day in the life a penguin! (several days actually!) After researching penguin facts we kept "Penguin Journals"as a way of getting to know these interesting animals!
Here's an excerpt from Nick's journal-
I'm a little penguin in a very uncomfortable egg. CRACK! I'm free! Only a few more months and I'm out to sea!.....
Way to go Nick!
